As the ski season winds down and the skiers begin to depart, now is the time Vermonters come out and play. Every year Okemo hosts a spring concert series and it’s then that I see friends I haven’t seen all winter. With the days getting longer and the hint of spring coming, I look forward to getting out to see live music.
Helping us to do this are a few musical events that are coming up in the Month of March.
First is the Sugar Daze Music series at Jackson Gore. Opening Artists will be local band Gypsy Reel. Gypsy Reel is always a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing them.
Second will be the Pete Kilpatrick Band who has released six independent records. They play a blend of folk and pop rock music. The band has toured with many notable acts including Jason Mraz and the Dave Matthews Band and will be one of the featured bands at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
The headline act will be Matisyahu. Since first emerging on the international stage in 2005, Matisyahu has established a reputation for high energy live sets featuring his eclectic style of stripped down roots reggae with hints of hip hop and pop.
This festival is an outdoor one so if you join us, dress warmly!
Killarney’s in Ludlow will be having live music all weekend including my favorite Gypsy Reel on Sunday and Monday! Check their website for times (http://gypsyreel.com/)
Another favorite place for St. Patrick’s Day is McGraths Pub at the Inn at Long Trail on Rte. 4 near Killington. It is the first bar to ever serve Guinness in Vermont. I know the music will be great. Plus, they make a great veggie burger! (http://www.innatlongtrail.com/Home.html)
Hope to see you!
